My name is Amjad Malik, I was born and raised in Pakistan. I have a bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Economics from the Punjab Education Board. I left Pakistan when I was 22 and moved to Sweden to pursue business. I came to the United States in 1995 and have since made Sacramento California my home.
I started making Islamic Art as a hobby 20 years ago. I started by taking online calligraphy courses with Omar Uddin from Canada. My first art pieces were primarily made from stained glass, etching and glass blowing. As my art evolved I wanted to find new techniques and took courses at Rainbow Glass works in Sacramento. Here I learned to incorporate new methods into my art-making. The first pieces of stained glass I made were so popular they were displayed at an exhibit in San Francisco Library and Later Oakland Library for two months. With time, I have started to make Islamic Art using a host of different techniques and materials.
Islamic Art started as a hobby for me but really has become a way I can enhance and beautify my own spirituality, and my hope is it can do the same for the viewer as well.
Thanks for looking.
Sincerely,
Amjad Malik

I Love to beautify Allah's words
The biggest motivation for me as an Islamic artist are Quranic verses which have the power to nourish your life. I try to capture this blessing in my Islamic Art
I think there are four principles when it comes to making Islamic Art.
1. Material
2. Style
3. Pattern
4. Color
